O.J.Simpson: The Full Sentencing Video!
LAS VEGAS - Former football star O.J. Simpson has been sentenced to at least 15 years in prison for a botched attempt to recover sports mementos and personal items from two collectibles peddlers.
He will be eligible for parole in six years.
Simpson stood stone-faced when the judge rattled off his punishment after he pleaded with her that he didn’t mean to steal from anybody when he tried to retrieve memorabilia.
He appeared ready to break down in tears as he told her that he was “sorry and confused” before going into a rambling and emotional 5-minute declaration.
Glass also ruled before sentencing that Simpson cannot be freed on bail pending possible appeal.
In earlier proceedings, neither Simpson, who was acquitted of the 1994 slayings of his ex-wife and her friend in Los Angeles, nor his co-defendant and former golfing buddy, Clarence “C.J. Stewart, testified at trial. They were convicted Oct. 3 of 12 criminal charges, including kidnapping and armed robbery.
Las Vegas Judge Jackie Glass rejected to his apology Friday and said, “It was much more than stupidity.”

The jury women were prejudice. Additionally, the most sigificant evidence was not presented during the murder trial. Why?? I don’t know.. by law, I do believe it’s supposed to be presented.

why are so many sentences ran concurrent here? I wish I was sentenced in this state, in VA you have to do at least 85% of your sentence. I did 2 years and 10 months on a 3 year 4 month sentence. If he got 33 years he should do at least 29, fuck all this parole eligibility and 12-48 shit.

Well, idk if you have a legal background, but sentencing on a multiple victim, multiple felony conviction can be complicated. For example, several of the felonies carried mandatory minimum sentences. Weapon enhancements had to be applied. Some of the sentences had to run consecutive. Anyway, the sentence was within the Nevada sentencing guidelines. In fact, illegality of the sentence is not even an issues in OJs appeal. So, if the sentence is a legal sentence, what “guity conscience” is there?

Additionally, what the judge said during sentencing wasn’t for the benefit of the media circus. Just like lawyers do during trial, the judge has to create a “record” during sentencing. A defendant has the right to appeal the legality of a sentence. A judge has to state on the record what factors were considered or not considered in sentencing. By the judge putting it on the record, a defendant can’t imply in an appeal that a prior non-conviction was a factor in the judges sentence.

Using a gun to confront someone clearly shows mens rea (guilty mind) the fact that his lawyers tried to argue that he didnt have the intent is just plain ridiculas. The Actus reus (one’s guilty action) is how they prove mens rea, they use your actions to prove your guilty mind, but it has to be proved beyond a reasonable doubt. Since he was convicted, that means the jury decided that the prosecution…

This is the US…if the public thinks you are guilty regardless of what the trial concludes your guilty. E.g. OJ Simpson murder issue (which this is a retribution for don’t kid yourself), Michael Jackson, etc. It is the public image of you that matters not whether you actually did a crime or not. This is why if anyone ever finds themselves in a troublesome court issue, the absolute best thing to do is not get a great lawyer, but a wonderful publicist

He was made to pay 30million+ lawsuits get this, for a book that wasn’t published. After he was found innocent and most people thought he was guilty it was concluded. He would be serving the rest of his life in jail and lose all his money to the families of the two dead.

@kentamitchell He’s eligible for parole after 5 as long as he keeps his nose clean he should be okay. If he becomes a trusty in prison an has no flaws on his review this will give him an even greater chance to get the parole. After sentencing it is no longer up to peers of OJ its up to a board or council. All he has to do is convince them that he is rehabilitated and he’ll go with parole. He’ll be 67 at that point and probably ask to be released so spend his last years with his children.
